Li Wei and his fellow "adventurers" did not travel with the army. Instead, they quietly left Neverwinter by a side road.
Who would have thought this lord actually had some strategic sense?
Li Wei naturally understood the intent. An army on the march was bound to attract the attention of other factions, especially since Nasher had specifically announced that it was going to slay the Dragon. The Dragon Cult members serving the Dragon would certainly keep their eyes on that army.
Meanwhile, the "main assassination force" could use that opportunity to slip in by another route while the enemy's attention was fixed on the main army.

Sitting in the vehicle, Emily watched the scenery racing past the window with a bitter expression. Everything had gone smoothly at first. The dragon-slaying party had quietly slipped out by another route to avoid notice, met up with Li Wei and the others on a nearby stretch of high ground, then headed for the Dragon's Lair.
The problem was that, when this towering Steel Warcar appeared before them, Emily had been forced to despairingly acknowledge that there was no such thing as a covert operation anymore. The thing was so huge that anyone could see it racing down the road. This "steel carriage without horses" would undoubtedly soon become the hottest rumor along the trade route.
Li Wei did not care. However fast rumors traveled here, they could not outrun his wheels. He might already have charged into the Dragon's Lair before the Dragon even knew where he had come from.
As for the adventuring party called the Arrow of Light, they were sitting on
