It was late.

Nasher stood on high ground, looking down at his subjects and nobles. Some were excited and pleased, while others looked puzzled. Many of Neverwinter's residents had actually seen the laborers hard at work recently, but they had no idea what those men were doing. All they knew was that they had erected one tall wooden pole after another, then strung thick black wires between them. Nobody knew what they were for. Now, it seemed, the answer was about to be revealed.

"Everyone."

Nasher took a deep breath and looked out at the crowd.

"Today, you will witness an unparalleled miracle. From this day forward, night will no longer blind our eyes, and darkness will no longer inspire fear. Our Neverwinter will welcome a glorious tomorrow!"

As he spoke, Lord Nasher felt rather excited himself. After all, of these cities, Neverwinter was the least distinctive. Luskan might have been a wretched place full of all sorts of unsavory characters, but at least it had the title of the City of a Thousand Sails.

Baldur's Gate and Waterdeep went without saying, and Silvermoon City stood at the very pinnacle.

Neverwinter, on the other hand... really was a little... lacking in character.

There was nothing he could do about that. He was a warrior turned lord; what did he know about politics? Getting this place into its current state was already an achievement. But now, through cooperation with the Empire, Nasher realized he truly had an opportunity! An opportunity to leave his name in the history books! If he succeeded, the people of Neverwinter would praise him for generations to come!

At that thought, a smile appeared on Nasher's face. He glanced at Li Wei beside him, reached out, gripped the lever in front of him, and pulled it down.
