The man felt as though he were dreaming.
Flanked by two strangely dressed soldiers, he walked down the street. Along the way, he saw countless things he could never have imagined.
The once deathly silent streets had never been so lively. All kinds of thunderous noises filled his ears, making it impossible to hear anything around him. He could only stare wide-eyed as squads of soldiers carrying strange weapons moved through the streets, firing bursts of "rat-tat-tat" at the dark figures lunging toward them. Then those terrifying monsters, which he believed even the knightly orders could not defeat, simply fell to the ground! They had actually been killed so easily!
The man knew perfectly well that when those monsters first ran rampant, even battle-hardened knights had been unable to destroy them. These monsters had no vital points whatsoever. The only way to defeat them was through repeated, relentless attacks.
Yet these people had destroyed the monsters with such ease!
Who on earth were they?!
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
Just as the man's mind went blank, a series of heavy tremors suddenly reached him. Then, to his horror, he saw a steel monster taller than a house stride toward him on two legs from the other end of the street. The two soldiers flanking him grabbed him and pulled him aside, bringing him to the roadside. He stared, dumbfounded, as the enormous monster venting white steam strode past him and charged ahead. What on earth was this...?
Before the man could think any further, someone pulled a sack over his head, plunging him into darkness.
After that, he knew nothing.
When he opened his eyes again, he found himself sitting in a dim room. There was a table in front of him, along with a dazzling white light, far more glaring than
