Li Wei had already wondered whether this tunnel might also be occupied by those Spider Monsters if it led to the Forty-Eighth Experimental Base.
His suspicions were soon confirmed.
After following the tunnel for two hours, the group encountered an obstacle they could not ignore. Vast sheets of webbing completely blocked the tunnel ahead, and they could even see bundles wrapped inside the webs. The soldiers slit them open with their bayonets, but all that remained inside were white bones and foul-smelling pus.
Li Wei did not even raise an eyebrow.
"Burn it all."
Soldiers carrying flamethrowers soon moved to the front of the formation and unleashed fire on the webs. Before long, the dense webbing had been burned away, and the soldiers resumed their advance.
Truth be told, the underground tunnel was not easy to navigate. Fortunately, their predecessors had already laid tracks, so they did not have to worry about getting lost. They only needed to keep following the rails. But the farther they went, the more webs they encountered, and Li Wei's frown deepened. These webs clearly could not have lasted for hundreds of years, which meant a whole pack of Spider Monsters probably really was hiding in here.
Under these circumstances, even Li Wei's Twin-Tailed Pixie was of little use. The webs were incredibly sticky, and anything that touched them would be unable to break free. They were also layered so thickly that there were almost no gaps.
Reality was different from a game, after all. Games needed players to complete them, so they provided loopholes. Reality had no obligation to play fair.
Its philosophy was simple: take it or leave it.
Fortunately, despite being underground and having just burned through all those webs, they still had a decent supply of oxygen. Suffocation was not a
