Arcane Detective of the Steam Age

A note on going premium (is this really necessary?)

I did the math, and this turned out to be my tenth book to go premium. That felt like something worth commemorating, so I figured I'd write a little note.

Readers familiar with me probably already know that I mainly write for my own enjoyment. If everyone likes it, all the better; if not, that's fine too. To me, writing a novel is like running my own text-based RPG: I create the characters, design the world, then go adventuring and take action in it. So writing is entertainment for me first, and work second. Of course, as a bottom-tier author, I don't earn much, but I can just about scrape by.

As for extra chapters... this kitty really can't manage big bursts of updates at my age. I even saw someone promise an extra chapter for every hundred monthly votes in their going-premium note. That would practically kill this kitty. Still, fortunately, although I'm getting older, I'm in fairly good health. I went to see a cardiovascular specialist because I hadn't been feeling well, and even had a coronary CT scan. It showed that my blood vessels were neither narrowed nor blocked; everything was normal. If anything, there might be a little something wrong with my stomach. Going by that, this kitty should be able to keep writing for quite a few more years.

Steampunk is fascinating and a lot of fun. That raw, rough-hewn era, where civilization and barbarism coexist, feels much more interesting than your typical world of swords and magic. That's why I wanted to write in this genre.

Anyway, that's all I have to say for now. If you like the book, please give it plenty of support. That's it, then. This kitty will... lie down for a little while, then get back to writing...
