Ever since discovering the red crystals inside these monsters' brains, Li Wei had been pondering a question: were those crystals connected to the soul radiance he saw with [Soul Sight]?
If creatures with red souls had red crystals in their brains, then by the same logic, did creatures with blue and green souls have blue and green crystals?
If his theory was correct, the Empire would have a scientific means of classifying monsters.
Until now, Li Wei had always relied on his [Soul Sight] to classify them. But he was the only one with [Soul Sight]; nobody else had a similar ability. As a detective, he naturally valued evidence. He couldn't simply insist that something was true because he had seen it that way-after all, other people weren't seeing the same thing.
That made a scientific, readily observable method extremely important.
This approach might even be used someday to examine beings with mysterious powers. In Li Wei's view, crystals like these ought to have some fixed molecular structure. If they could unravel its secrets, they could manufacture devices specifically designed to interfere with the crystals, just as they had done to counter magic.
Wouldn't that allow them to suppress these mysterious creatures' powers?
Many powerful people feared nothing more than having their powers suppressed or disrupted. But Li Wei genuinely wasn't afraid of that. Put simply, his combat strength was tied to human civilization. The stronger human civilization became, the stronger he became.
Conversely, if human civilization consisted of nothing but primitives eating raw meat and drinking blood, Li Wei would probably be no more than a slightly stronger primitive himself.
Without Steam Generator units, Guided Missiles, Laser Machine Guns, or Artillery Guns, how the hell was he supposed to fight those mysterious creatures? If Li Wei's idea could be
