Though they called it blasting the door open, there were many ways to do that. They had had little choice with the piles of rubble earlier, but a gate like this was another matter entirely. It was nowhere near as simple as sticking explosives onto a door and blowing it open like in the movies. Instead, they used shaped charges to cut through it.
The charges looked like strips of hard metal. Once attached to the gate, their explosions would create a continuous cut straight through the thick steel plate. As a directional blasting technique, it was relatively safer and easier to control.

As the blast rang out, the metal gate shook. Then, at an order from the Sapper Unit, the metal arm extending from the rear of the Armored Train, normally used to grip the rails, clamped firmly onto the center of the heavy door and pulled backward.
With a tremendous bang, the huge, heavy gate was forcibly ripped free and set aside.
The tunnel behind it lay exposed before them.
Unlike the earlier tunnels, which had been dark or illuminated only by a few glowing plants, this one was brightly lit. Torches lined both sides. Those near the door had been extinguished by the blast, but the ones farther away still burned, casting a gentle glow into the dark tunnel.
"Well, I didn't expect there to be people on the other side."
Li Wei chuckled at the sight.
"If we'd known, we should have rung the doorbell first."
As Li Wei said, this was no game where players could enter a labyrinth abandoned for centuries and still find lighting. Who had lit those torches?
Surely not animals.
"Everyone aboard. Get ready."
Without needing any further instructions from Li Wei, the soldiers immediately grew alert, raising their
