Boom! A dark shape burst from beneath the water, rearing high like a whale leaping out of the sea. But it was not a whale. In fact, it looked nothing like a fish. It looked like-a head!
It resembled a rotting giant, covered in putrid chunks of bluish-white flesh, its entire head hideously deformed. Stranger still, a pair of white wings had unfurled on either side of the giant's head, where its ears should have been!
They were white as snow and looked pristine, without the slightest trace of water on them.
The head lifted its face and stared from the water at Li Wei and the others standing on the terrace. Then it opened its mouth, revealing writhing tentacles that lashed about inside the pitch-black opening.
"Ugh! What the hell is that thing?"
The sight made Katie's skin crawl. Li Wei was hardly any better off. The thing was simply too disgusting.
"Most likely the Goddess of Earth's head."
"The Goddess of Earth's head?"
"Just a guess."
Li Wei shrugged. It was not a difficult deduction. First, since the Goddess of Earth had become a Soul Stone, that meant her physical
body was probably dead. Li Wei had no idea what those Disaster Cultists had done underground, but judging by the corrupted Sun God at Third Haven, he figured those bastards had probably been up to the same tricks here.
Still, the Goddess of Earth really was enormous. Her head alone was almost as big as a house.
As that thought crossed his mind, Li Wei quickly pulled out his flare gun and switched on his radio to contact the Train.
"This is Squad A, calling the Train."
"This is the Train. Go ahead, Squad A."
"We've run into some trouble. I need the main gun ready to fire
