The holy city of Elturel.
The city was called the Holy City because of its legend. According to that legend, an angel had once come to Elturel and persuaded its leader at the time, the High Rider, to raise an army of mortal Holy Knights. They had stormed the first layer of Hell, fought in the Blood War, slaughtered demons, and returned triumphant.
After that, the army of Holy Knights became known as the Hellriders and protected Elturel.
But that was not the holy city's only story. Later, a powerful vampire lord had led an undead army to besiege Elturel. Just as the city was about to fall, a miracle occurred-a brilliant orb of light, like a second sun, appeared above Elturel, bathing the entire city and its surrounding lands in holy radiance.
In the end, the vampire lord's undead legion was destroyed, and the lord himself fled in panic back into the shadows.
The man who had worked this miracle was Thavius Kreeg, a priest of Torm. Saving the holy city brought him great fame, and he naturally became its savior and ruler. Afterward, he founded the Order of the Companion, named after the second sun in the sky, and became known as the High Observer.
From then on, the holy city's influence steadily expanded, and a new theocratic kingdom was established around it. Because they passed judgment on evil and welcomed many pilgrims persecuted by undead creatures, they wielded considerable influence in the region.
Thus, when the disaster involving dragons and giants struck, the High Observer summoned the members of the Lords’ Alliance to a meeting in the holy city of Elturel to discuss how to confront the coming threat. None of the lords objected. After all, Elturel was a city blessed by a miracle. No one thought
