Although he had already seen another corpse, the sheer pressure this monster gave off when it actually moved was not to be underestimated.
In the bonfire's glow, the enormous black wolf charging at Li Wei looked as big as a bear. Its paws struck the ground with heavy thuds.
Little Red Riding Hood stood beside Li Wei, her entire body rigid. Had Katie been there, she might well have clenched her little fists and eagerly rushed forward to challenge it. But Little Red Riding Hood was only an ordinary farm girl. Even if she was strong, she certainly couldn't wrestle elephants the way Katie could.
Li Wei didn't mind, though.
He raised his gun, cocked the hammer, and took aim.
The giant wolf leaped into the air.
At that same moment, Li Wei pulled the trigger.
Twice.
Bang! Bang!
Still airborne, the giant wolf paid no attention to the gunshots. With its thick fur and tough hide, ordinary bullets posed no threat and could do it no harm.
But as it happened, Li Wei had never dealt in ordinary things.
A spray of flames engulfed the giant wolf head-on. It let out an agonized scream and even forgot how to land, crashing heavily into the ground. Then it rolled frantically, sprang up, and turned tail at blazing speed with its backside on fire-literally.
In the blink of an eye, the flickering flames vanished into the dark night.
A little later, the villagers who had fled began returning. This time, however, the joy of the celebration had vanished from their faces, replaced by panic and unease. Another monster attack was one thing, but there really was a second one... That was what truly terrified them.
"How could this happen... Why is there another giant wolf?"
