The hastily developed time-loop bolter bombs proved exceptionally effective.

The Ultramarines precisely picked off any Necron Immortals that dared show themselves. Though the Astartes' efficiency had dropped as they anticipated and evaded enemy gauss beams, more and more Necrons fell across the battlefield.

Their living metal could still heal, but after suffering fatal wounds, they had lost the ability to revive through their reanimation protocols.

Space Marines never feared troublesome enemies. As long as there was a way to kill them, these genetically enhanced warriors would dare to challenge even the gods of legend.

The Necron tide closed in on the edge of the camp. The high walls of stone and reinforced concrete could hardly withstand their devastating gauss beams.

Lox saw Nykona's signal appear among the Necrons. At some point, the Son of the Raven had vanished from the defensive line.

"This guy... he's taking far too great a risk." Lox could not help breaking into a cold sweat.

The Necron battle formation contained more than just Immortals. Apart from the Skorpekh Destroyer Nykona had just shot dead, there were far more Canoptek Scarabs, swarming like insects, as well as several more advanced Tomb Spyders.

They destroyed and dismantled the obstacles in their path, clearing the way for the Immortals' advance.

Moreover, these auxiliary units seemed able to accelerate the Immortals' recovery, allowing them to endure even more damage.

The roar of turbofans and engines rang out over the battlefield as several Ultramarines from the garrisoned 199th Company flew into low altitude aboard their Thunderhawk gunships.

Using the twin-linked heavy bolters mounted on their Thunderhawks, they blocked the Immortals' advance from the air. These immensely powerful and exceptionally accurate weapons blasted apart swathes of Necrons.

Mechanical bodies twisted and warped, black metal limbs and molten unknown components scattering everywhere.
