"Why are you helping him? We cannot even be sure his stance will remain firm. This may be a mistake."

Lion spoke to the Dark Watcher through psychic communication.

"We do not know whether these technological relics, if they fall out of control, could become a disaster for the Imperium. This is no exaggeration."

"I must ensure that possibility is extinguished. This is the duty the Emperor gave me."

Faced with the Lion's questioning, the Dark Watcher replied.

You have fallen into the trap of narrow-mindedness, son of Caliban. Our ultimate enemy has always been Chaos. Clinging to the legacy of the past without adapting or seeking breakthroughs is no different from waiting to die.

Only in his hands can those things achieve their greatest value. He is a valuable ally and an important force against Chaos. We should unite.

Lion fell silent. He knew full well how farsighted these Dark Watchers were. Long before humanity began to multiply on Caliban, these little beings had existed for untold tens of thousands of years.

They had chosen to assist the Dark Angels and become attendants to the knights of Caliban because those humans, too, were an important force in resisting Chaos.

Like the Dark Angels, they had their own secrets, but one thing was certain: both sides belonged to the same camp.

After advising Lion, the Dark Watcher continued leading Lox toward another corner.

These little robed beings were somewhat disappointed in the Dark Angels and Lion. Their greatest purpose in nurturing the Dark Angels had been to fight Chaos. The malice from The Empyrean was the mortal enemy of all life in the material universe, yet the Dark Angels were simply too extreme.

The wars of material beings were conflicts internal to the material universe, but the Warp was different.
