Just as Curze seized a ship and fled, Lion aboard the New Caliban received a communication from the Invincible Reason.
While establishing a holographic link with the Invincible Reason, he quietly manipulated the airtight net of warships and defense systems within the Solar System, creating an opening for Curze's vessel to escape.
Even after seizing a warship, it would have been extraordinarily difficult for Curze to escape. Mandeville Point was the most tightly controlled region; unless everyone and every defense system suddenly went blind, there was no way out.
And now, Lion had to make them "blind" for a little while.
"My lord, the Night Haunter has departed the Invincible Reason. He took prisoner 006478, Jago Sevatarion, along with several other Night Lords in black armor."
The commander of the Invincible Reason meticulously reported the damage Curze had caused. Although quite a few mortal crewmen and Dark Angels had been injured, only one death had been reported.
The last time Curze had gone on a killing spree aboard the Invincible Reason, he had caused the deaths of over a thousand people.
The command from his primarch echoed in his mind: no one was to obstruct Konrad Curze.
"My lord, why?"
The commander felt as though his mind could no longer keep up. The Night Haunter had clearly been the First Legion's mortal enemy before, continuously wreaking havoc aboard their ships. At Macragge, he had even nearly hurled four hundred drop pods onto the Ultramarines' defensive void shields.
Yet the Lion's entirely different attitude now undoubtedly meant that many things had changed.
"This is classified." The Lion had no intention of explaining. Or rather, he simply had no need to explain himself to his sons.
"Were there any other losses? Who was the deceased? Was he killed by Curze?" Lion was
