Lox quickly finalized the design for the combat Iron Men. He handed the prototype design over to the previously created Stone Men for revision and refinement. These clever and capable Stone Men had recently been assisting the Tech-priests with research and experiments in the laboratories on Ganymede.
With the systematic knowledge Lox had prepared for them, combined with the experience and methods of thought they had acquired from the Tech-priests, the Stone Men's scientific literacy was rapidly improving.
Their astonishing learning ability made the Stone Men increasingly important on Ganymede. They had even surpassed many Tech-priests of merely average talent.
At the same time, Lox relied on these Stone Men to manage Ganymede and the High Technology Community. Their talents extended beyond scientific research; they were equally gifted in interpersonal communication and organizational management.
For example, when dealing with priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Stone Men switched to the other party's mechanical mindset. Communicating with grease monkeys as grease monkeys often yielded remarkably high efficiency.
When communicating with other mortals, the Stone Men switched into an emotionally intelligent mode, engaging them warmly in the manner best suited to the situation and attending as fully as possible to mortals' complex and sensitive psychology.
As a result, the Stone Men were always able to build good relationships with people. They were so considerate and skilled at viewing problems from another person's perspective—qualities often lacking in managers.
It was precisely because of the Stone Men that Ganymede and the High Technology Community had remained so harmonious. If those Martian grease monkeys had been running the organization, they would probably have smashed one another's heads in over conflicts of interest long ago.
