Chaghatai Khan's fleet had emerged out of nowhere, using absolute mobility to toy with the rebels' carefully prepared defensive line. As the Sky Eagle entered the system's interior, the rebels' most vulnerable underbelly was laid bare.
The enemy was falling into chaos. Their command system had yet to recover from such an immense reversal. Just seconds ago, the enemy had been outside the defensive line, ready to be blasted into space junk at any moment; a few seconds later, they had already struck deep into their rear.
Ashurden forcibly calmed himself. He ordered his defensive line to turn its guns around while commanding the fleet to close in on the enemy.
The interior of a star system was entirely different from its outskirts. In an environment filled with celestial interference and cosmic dust, the enemy could not possibly continue racing about so recklessly.
It was practically suicidal. Striking even a fist-sized meteorite at such tremendous speed would release all that energy at once.
Chaghatai Khan understood this as well. He ordered his fleet to begin decelerating, even as it sliced through the defenses around those planets like a sharp surgical blade.
As particle lances flashed, it seemed as though nothing had happened in the frigid void. Yet in the next instant, blinding white beams pierced the atmosphere and began bombarding the planetary surfaces.
The firepower of a single Sky Eagle was nearly equal to the combined firepower of several other warships. Chaghatai freely drove this savage beast onward, releasing more torpedoes and macro-cannon shells. These physical weapons carried immense-yield nuclear bombs and antimatter warheads, raining across planetary surfaces and Orbital Platforms.
Smoke filled the heavens, while terrifying firelight tore the black clouds of smoke to shreds. The places that had endured the bombardment had undoubtedly been reduced to scorched wastelands.
