Even more terrifying than the environment were the Warp creatures lurking in hidden corners. They came from the strangest, most vile nightmares of every sentient being since the birth of the universe—the incarnations of the deepest fears.
Ages passed, the universe shattered, yet no one knew where these nightmares came from. No one even knew whether they originated from the same universe.
Though the Imperium of Man could use the Warp to achieve faster-than-light travel, such voyages had to be conducted under the protection of Geller fields. Once that protection was lost, every living thing and machine entering the Warp would behold horrors beyond imagination.
Now, a scarred behemoth of a warship was threading through the Warp Sea. Its hull resembled a trident, while its decks and weapon platforms, twisted and damaged by psychic storms, remained in a state of utter ruin due to the lack of repairs and maintenance.
This was the Word Bearers' flagship, the Trisagion, which had fled into the Warp. After escaping the Ultramarines' pursuit, this last remaining capital ship had set Nuceria as its destination on the order of the Urizen.
Only around twenty-five thousand Word Bearers and eighteen thousand World Eaters remained aboard this epic warship as survivors of the Battle of Armatura.
Even counting the Space Marines still conducting the Shadow Crusade on other worlds across the Five Hundred Worlds, these two Legions had lost nearly half their warriors.
Before the Battle of Calth began, one hundred thousand Word Bearers and one hundred fifty thousand World Eaters
