Roland's carriage came to a stop, and the guards on either side parted to clear a path.

Seeing this, everyone knew that a high-ranking official or noble had arrived and hurried out of the way.

Stepping out of the carriage, Roland glanced up at the hotel beside him. Polina's enormous billboard had been taken down, but it had not gone to waste: it had been moved to a nearby commercial building.

The building stood more than ten stories tall. Constructed by an Atrelin building company, it exuded a modern air utterly at odds with Lainer World.

"Come to think of it, Sophia's business should be up and running by now. She's probably working in that building."

Roland pondered this, but instead of heading there, he walked straight into the grand hotel beneath the Mage Tower.

Greeted by an attendant, he made his way to a large conference room on the third floor and walked right in.

"Roland, you're here. The meeting's about to start. Come over here."

Lie Yi called out to him.

He was sitting in one of the first three rows, surrounded by other High Mages they knew.

"What a hassle. I came all this way, and now there's a meeting. With all this traveling back and forth, I haven't even gotten over the jet lag."

Morella yawned, sounding rather disgruntled.

Blaise smiled. "That may be so, but these agenda items are quite important."

Roland and Lie Yi wholeheartedly agreed.

With the new year underway, they needed to discuss academic affairs at the two Mage Towers, as well as the allocation of their funding.
