The points tournament continued. Roland checked in during his spare time and was pleased to discover that his students had all won several matches without trouble.
At this rate, it was only a matter of time before they qualified.
He turned his attention elsewhere.
"How are Selad and the others from the North doing?"
Blaise said, "I observed them in secret. They've all been behaving themselves and competing normally. They haven't played that card yet."
Roland said, "As the leader of a faction, Selad does have some brains. He may be planning to hold it back until the middle or later stages."
Blaise chuckled. "If he keeps behaving himself like this, it'll save us quite a bit of trouble."
Hearing Roland and Blaise's conversation, Princess Rosa could not help casting them a curious look.
She had a vague idea of what card they were talking about.
She had also helped send the secret letter inviting Selad here.
There might be some scheme of Roland's behind this.
But after several years at Roland's side, she already knew what she should and should not ask.
So she withdrew her gaze and went back to what she was doing.
Once Blaise finished his coffee, she reminded them, "Gentlemen, the afternoon matches will begin soon. Will you be staying here to watch the broadcast?"
"No, I'm planning to watch in person." Blaise, an avid card gamer, was brimming with enthusiasm.
"I still need my afternoon nap." Roland gestured for him to go ahead.
After Blaise left, only Roland and Princess Rosa remained in the room.
Roland beckoned, and Princess Rosa obediently came over to sit beside him. Nestling against him, she asked with an endearing sweetness, "Mr. Roland, aren't you going?"
Stroking her hair, Roland chuckled. "It's only just started. What's there to watch?
