Chapter 543: Two-Headed Ground Bat
Boom!
A house was smashed apart, sending shattered stones, bricks, and tiles flying amid billowing dust.
"Ah!!! No-"
The woman's piercing scream cut off abruptly, followed by a spine-chilling sound of chewing.
Thud, thud, thud.
The monster emerged from the dust again, and a swath of the already low houses around it collapsed.
Feeling the radiance of the Sun Radiance Heart, the hairless, scaleless monster with two broad, flat heads moved slowly, then stretched like a cat.
Although Earth's siphoning effect caused some beings from the Otherworld to fall into Earth, the vast majority remained trapped in the rift between worlds by World Power.
Unless they were strong enough themselves or possessed some special power, most would die there, their minds and spiritual essence dissipating to become nourishment for Earth.
But just as when the Fallen World of Caslopa had bordered Earth last time, as Earth's World Power invaded, Demons and other beings began leaking out of this Otherworld as well.
All life had an instinctive desire to survive. Given even the slightest chance, Demons and other beings that sensed it would do everything possible to escape the layers of Earth's World Power trapping them.
Crack, crack, crack.
The monster luxuriated in the sounds and sensations of its muscles and bones loosening. One of its heads still held a body in its mouth, the legs protruding from the corner twitching intermittently.
Crunch, crunch.
The teeth-grating chewing resumed. The legs jerked violently a few times, then went still before being sucked into the gaping mouth.
Gulp.
Its throat bobbed as it swallowed the body.
"The soul was a little weak, but it tasted pretty good!"
The monster lowered its heads to look around. It had deliberately put on that display for the little creatures surrounding it.
