• Purification: The core draws in and releases the magic power beneath it, making that power purer 490 567.
• Purity limits: Golden Core magic power is at least ninety-nine percent pure and may reach 99.99 percent. Further purification at that threshold requires outside aids such as spirit treasures or precious natural materials 777.
• Life transformation: Advancement changes the essence of a cultivator’s life, rather than merely increasing their reserves of magic power 419 451.

Core Formation

Essence, Qi, and Spirit

• Minimum requirement: Essence, energy or qi, and spirit must each lack an obvious deficiency. Absolute perfection is not required for an ordinary attempt 177.
• Physical foundation: Severe bodily damage, missing body parts, or unrepaired blood-essence loss creates a weakness in essence. Forcing core formation under these conditions can be fatal 177.
• Strength and balance: Greater attainments in all three foundations improve the likelihood of success, while imbalance obstructs the formation of a high-grade core 177 418.
• Purified magic power: Liu Yu’s Demon Fire Refining Essence improves his estimated core-formation chances by fifteen percent, although it consumes accumulated magic power during preparation 264 485.

• Rare ingredients: Golden Core Condensation Pill production requires scarce herbs, including five elements spirit fruit and the important supplementary ingredient Primordial Chaos Fruit 173 213.
• Difficult refinement: Liu Yu uses twenty-eight sets of ingredients before obtaining one successful batch of seven Golden Core Condensation Pills 484.
• No guaranteed success: Estimated benefits cannot simply be added into a certainty. A mistake at any stage can ruin even exceptionally thorough preparations 485.

Grades and Dao Marks

Quality and Future Potential

• “Flawless” does not always mean perfect: The term describes the basic absence of obvious deficiencies in essence, energy, and spirit; it does not require absolute perfection 177.
• Dao Marks indicate quality: Liu Yu’s initially perfect ninth-grade core bears nine marks. Losing one leaves an imperfect eight-mark core; the Immortal Mansion later restores a nine-mark foundation without recovering its original perfection 486 487 490.
• Ninth-grade benefits: Such a core slightly increases spiritual-energy absorption and refinement, provides an advantage throughout Golden Core cultivation, and assists Nascent Soul condensation 719.
• Regional rarity: At Liu Yu’s breakthrough, only a handful of high-grade cores are recorded across the Seven Kingdoms Alliance, and none within the Chu Kingdom 488.
• Elite standing: The Central Region’s top ten True Person Rankings are said to consist of cultivators with ninth-grade cores 652.
• Private information: Core quality and Life-bound Divine Abilities are closely guarded secrets. Even parents or masters cannot casually demand to inspect them 652 856.

Abilities and Benefits

Life-bound Divine Ability

Every Golden Core cultivator naturally develops a divine ability. Its form depends on their cultivation method and core quality, with better cores producing stronger abilities 370.

• Fast activation: Life-bound Divine Abilities eliminate the slow casting associated with ordinary spells 490.
• Efficient use: They consume much less magic power than spells and grow stronger as cultivation advances 490.
• Liu Yu’s Wither: Weakens an opponent’s Primordial Spirit, magic power, and physical body. Against an opponent at his level, it reduces overall strength by approximately twenty percent; its effect is weaker against higher-realm cultivators 490 678.

Treasures and Flight

• Treasure use: Wielding Treasures is a basic Golden Core capability. Even the poorest-quality treasure is described as possessing over ten times the power of magical artifacts and spirit artifacts 304 419.
• Life-bound nourishment: A Life-bound Treasure can be stored in the dantian and nourished with magic power, becoming stronger over time 304.
• Realm-dependent growth: Liu Yu’s middle-stage breakthrough increases his spear’s power by fifty percent and makes his magic power more effective at nurturing it 568.
• Unaided flight: Golden Core cultivators can fly without standing on artifacts. Liu Yu’s unaided flight exceeds twice his former speed after advancement 304 491.

Survival Beyond Bodily Death

• Primordial Spirit refuge: If the physical body is killed, the nascent Primordial Spirit automatically transfers into the golden core 451.
• Possible return: An intact core permits secret arts such as body possession or returning to life through a corpse 451.
• Reduced dependence on flesh: The core carries the Primordial Spirit outside the body for longer periods, making destruction of the head or heart no longer automatically fatal 451.
• Limits: The core can still be captured and suppressed, and survival depends on it remaining intact 451.

Status and Institutional Role

• Sect government: Primordial Yang Sect Golden Core elders decide routine affairs, deployment lists, and appointments; the Nascent Soul ancestor retains final authority over major decisions 498 750.
• Advancement privileges: Newly promoted elders may select a treasure or forging material from the sect treasury. Liu Yu also receives new cultivation grounds capable of supporting his realm 491 492 496.
• Military strength: Fifty Golden Core cultivators from Chu’s Five Great Sects assault Ancient Gate City’s third-tier defenses. Foundation Establishment disciples are excluded because their attacks would be ineffective and their exposure needlessly lethal 304 305.
• Recruitment and patronage: Golden Core households and masters can provide resources unavailable to most Foundation Establishment cultivators, widening the gap between otherwise similar disciples 264.

Vulnerabilities and Nascent Soul Transition

Vulnerabilities

• Core detonation: A cornered cultivator can detonate their Golden Core. White Cloud Temple elders use this during their defeat, with the explosions killing nearby lower-realm cultivators 419.
• Tracking imprints: Special techniques can be imprinted on a core to track its bearer. Liu Yu’s imprint on Lu Yi is difficult even for an ordinary Nascent Soul True Lord to remove completely 710.
• Cultivation errors: Without a proper inheritance, mistakes after core formation can sever further advancement despite the cultivator’s talent 678.
• Higher-realm suppression: Golden Core strength remains overwhelmingly inferior to Nascent Soul power; even accomplished Golden Core cultivators can be helpless before True Lords 627 680 798.

Shattering the Core

• Purity and compatibility: Directly absorbing another person’s magic power or essence origin can taint the core, reduce compatibility with the Primordial Spirit, and cause their fusion during Nascent Soul formation to fail 755.
• Release of the Nascent Soul: The new Nascent Soul must break its restraints and escape the cracking core. Liu Yu uses a Nascent Soul Condensation Pill and Heavenly Purification Water before breaking through the shell 756.
• Inheritance of Dao Marks: The core’s marks transfer into the newborn Nascent Soul 758.
• Fragment disposal: Remaining fragments nourish the Nascent Soul, but must not fall into outsiders’ hands. A curse specialist could use them to threaten even the cultivator’s life after advancement 758.
