Sword light flashed without end, stabbing swiftly in every direction. Black Snake felt like a hedgehog; whenever the sword light swept past, another monstrosity lunging at him dissolved into smoke.
The monstrosities shrieked, their cries piercing and grating. They knew no fear and surged toward him from every direction.
Black Snake sensed that their numbers were not endless. He only needed to clear out those nearby; after that, the Heretic Cultivator could keep howling like a ghost all he wanted.
A thicket of withered claws reached in from all sides, trying to tear Black Snake apart.
Even swift sword light had its gaps. He abandoned all formal technique, dodging and weaving as he hammered them with his fists and kicked viciously.
His Yin Spirit truly was different. It was tough.
A straw sandal slammed into one monstrosity's swollen belly, sending it flying backward, and his longsword swept around in a broad arc.
Cutting off a small piece would not do. He had to cleave them in half or mince them into shreds.
He spared a glance at the Heretic Cultivator.
The man stood where he was, untouched by the monstrosities for now, probably because they were too busy.
Black Snake slaughtered the surging monstrosities with ruthless precision while considering how to return to the world of the living.
He kept trying to concentrate and sense his physical body in the living world, but the monstrosities constantly interfered. He would have to clear these things out first.
After a prolonged bout of slaughter, few monstrosities remained nearby.
Noticing that the Heretic Cultivator's Yin Soul was trying to escape, he immediately moved toward him.
That movement swept the Heretic Cultivator into the horde of monstrosities following him.
The slaughter continued.
Black Snake felt weariness welling up from deep within his spirit body.
