Without stopping to check his own condition, Li Ping first turned his gaze toward the charred human figure at the center of the explosion.
His opponent had been right at the blast's center. Moreover, Li Ping had taken his Storage Bag, leaving him without any defensive magic artifacts to withstand the spirit talismans. His situation had been far worse than Li Ping's.
Even a Foundation Establishment late-stage cultivator could not possibly have survived an explosion of lightning and fire like that.
Still, to be safe, he had to guard against the possibility that his opponent had left behind some remnant soul, blood pearl, or other means of Body Possession.
Li Ping slapped his Storage Bag and sent a small sword flying out, directing it to hack furiously at the charred human figure. He intended to grind its bones to dust and scatter its ashes.
But in the midst of the slashing, suddenly-
The flying sword seemed to strike something hard and was knocked away with a clang.
"Huh? What's that?"
Through his divine sense, Li Ping noticed what appeared to be a Blood-Colored Scale that had fallen out of the demon cultivator's body.
"It survived that explosion unscathed, and even the flying sword couldn't leave the slightest scratch on it." Li Ping could not help wondering what exactly that blood-red armor plate was.
Whatever it was, it certainly was no ordinary object. Ignoring the Blood-Colored Scale for now, Li Ping continued directing his flying sword to slash at the charred human figure. Its hardness was truly extraordinary; each stroke of the sword could only chip away a little.
Of course, if it had not been so hard, it could never have remained intact under that onslaught of lightning and fire.
