Everyone who witnessed the scene was shaken, and the same thought rose unbidden in their minds. The ordinary residents of Sorens, meanwhile, were bewildered and at a loss, then immediately began praying to the Holy Light.
Mulan was slightly out of breath, but the hazy light surrounding him concealed his condition. He remained on guard against the threat overhead. Of course he hoped the members of the Twilight Brigade would fall to their deaths, but in an age of mysterious powers, he could not pin his hopes on that possibility.

Mulan did his best to steady his breathing. That shot had indeed been astonishingly powerful, but it had taken a long time to charge and consumed a great deal of energy. Fortunately, this was not a game where he had to wait for a casting bar to fill before a skill could activate. He could choose how much power to build up; this time, he had simply needed to unleash its full strength.
Once his breathing had settled somewhat, Mulan looked down from the rooftop. The officers from the Sorens Police Station and the Guard Corps on the outskirts had already been called in by the Seventh Department and were running toward him from two directions. Their ranks were anything but orderly, but at least they all wore uniforms, making them easy to identify.
Strictly speaking, the Seventh Department could request cooperation from Dierjia's local authorities under special circumstances, but had no power to requisition their personnel. In the current situation, however, the Sorens Police Station and the Guard Corps were running around like headless chickens and could only follow the advice of the Seventh Department's intelligence officers.
