Farolynch had made every preparation and was ready to accept whatever fate awaited him. He raced through the night, feeling that the stiffness had left his body. He could even feel the chill of the winter wind.
As he ran, Farolynch looked up at the sky. First, he had to make the bats notice him!

"Come on, little bat. You'd better be a genuine supernatural being, or I'll make you regret showing up in front of me!"
The fluctuations of magic power he released instantly agitated the swarm overhead. Farolynch accelerated out of the mountains and into the forest on level ground. Just as expected, the bats pursued him.
"You dared attack the Holy Temple! You will surely be burned to ashes by holy light, you death-seeking heretics!"
Farolynch shouted through the forest, his voice filled with urgency. Whether his pursuer believed him or not, he might as well bluff first.
Such adaptability came partly from quick wits and partly from exposure. He had not traveled with Mulan for very long, but the experience had left a deep impression. Both Mulan and Shire were excellent teachers in this respect.
Thanks to Mulan's guidance, Farolynch understood that vampires below the fourth tier, Night Pilgrim, could not turn themselves into bats. Whoever had come here was most likely not a vampire of such a high rank.
