Sealing a Holy Relic was entirely different from taking one away. Carrying a Holy Relic usually posed little trouble, but trying to seal one would provoke resistance from its power. Still, when nothing was known about a Holy Relic, sealing it was the safest, most reliable approach.
Inside Mulan's office at Forward Legion headquarters, all the senior officers and guards had left, leaving only Mulan, Haisen, and Balu. At the door and windows, however, a crowd of Black Castle students watched eagerly.
A book shimmered with faint arcs of light as it floated in the air. Mulan and Haisen stood on either side with their palms facing it. Light flowed continually from the book in rippling waves. Its energy was confined between the two supernatural practitioners' palms, but its light illuminated the room and spilled through the windows and doorway.
This was the first time any of the Black Castle students had seen a Holy Relic, and they were intensely curious. Too many had already crowded along the safe perimeter Mulan had established, but the windows and doorway were so small that they had to take turns looking.
"So this is a Holy Relic? I've never seen one before!"
"None of us have. It looks like a book?"
"I wonder what's inside, but just look at it. It's beautiful!"
"We don't know how powerful this Holy Relic is, either."
"The instruc-uh, Legion Commander chased it deep into the Otherworld. It must be extraordinary!"
"Right. I heard taking this Holy Relic was an important mission for our legion."
"Do you think the book is just its form, or does it have something special written inside?"
"Who knows..."
The students all chattered, every one of them wishing they could get their hands on the Holy Relic and discover its secrets.
