Several ravens flew out of Liventemi toward the distance, and Cuil hurried after them. Of course, he could never catch up with Mulan, who did not follow any predictable pattern. By now, Mulan had already taken the others to a nearby mountaintop.
Mulan watched the ravens flying away. They were clearly different from ordinary wild crows; they had been trained.
"Should we follow them?"
Reno watched the ravens as he asked. If they flew much farther, they might pass beyond the range of their tracking senses.
Solomon narrowed his eyes at the ravens, using his intuition and perception to examine the aura around the birds.
"There's no hurry. First, we need to establish whether the Raven Church still worships the Raven Queen, and whether it has been corrupted by the power of some other evil god."
Caesar twirled his Double-Barreled Heavy Sprayer beside them and spoke in a low voice.
"If an evil god has corrupted them, then the Raven Church really is an evil cult. They wouldn't be an asset, but an enemy."
"The Sage has his own plans."
Mulan suddenly felt as though he were teaching a group of outstanding students. Compared with their time at the Black Castle, he could offer more focused instruction here without holding anything back. The four Silent Knights at his side had finally become dependable.
"There's no need to stay right behind the ravens. I need to use dreams to influence people with a deeper understanding of the Apostle's Descent, and have them help me find the Apostle's Eye."
"The Apostle's Eye?" Mulan looked at Solomon and the others and gave a brief explanation.
"An item that holds precious knowledge. It may come from something I'm familiar with. The Ancient Quinas People seem to have regarded it as a symbol of authority."
