Birds took flight throughout the mountains, and frightened animals scattered in all directions. The entire forest burst into a frenzy.
Feeling the ground shake violently, Shire could not help asking worriedly.
"Mr. Jonester, the mountain beneath us won't collapse, will it?"
"Don't worry. There's a lot of dynamite, but its explosive yield isn't that great."
Holding a portable telescope, Handel studied the Mine Tunnel by moonlight. He had already seen it collapse, sealing the exit completely.
Beside him, Farolynch watched the distant explosion and spoke quietly.
"There's plenty of space inside the Mine Tunnel, with no shortage of nooks and crannies. Given the explosives' blast radius, can this one explosion really kill all the werewolves?"
Handel smiled. Still looking through the telescope, he explained.
"The professor never intended to kill every werewolf with a single explosion. It can certainly kill a considerable number of them, but wiping them all out is impossible. What you need to understand is that an explosion consumes oxygen. Even werewolves need to breathe."
Before Handel finished, Farolynch and Shire understood.
The air in that underground cavern had already been extremely poor. If the explosion used up its oxygen while the entrances and exits were completely sealed, the werewolves would soon suffocate.
"Even for Dark Creatures like werewolves, it's a very painful way to die. And the process will take much longer than it would for ordinary humans-perhaps over an hour."
Shire instinctively touched his neck. Once, he had slept with the covers over his head and woken up struggling to breathe. That alone had felt awful.
"Could the werewolves dig their way out?"
Shire grew worried again. After all, the werewolves were bound to see him as the mastermind.
"The explosives at the entrance will bury dozens of meters of the Mine Tunnel. The tunnels
