Toru Kujyo sat beside Hinata, the corners of his lips lifting slightly. "I'll give you my gift in private later." His voice was quiet, but it carried a hint of mystery that brooked no question, making Hinata's heart skip a beat and her blush deepen.
Seeing that the mood was just right, Hyuga Hiashi gave a timely cough and said to Toru Kujyo:
"Toru-kun, several of our clan elders have arranged another family banquet in the side hall. They would like to speak with you privately." He paused, turning his gaze to Hinata as his tone softened. "Hinata, I'll leave you to look after Toru-kun." With that, he left the dining room wearing a rather knowing smile, leaving the young people to themselves.
Watching Hiashi leave, Toru Kujyo asked quietly, "What do the elders want to discuss over dinner?"
Hinata twisted her fingers uneasily and explained in a small voice, "They... probably want to thank you for all your help, Toru-kun, and take this opportunity to strengthen the Hyuga Clan's ties with you." She did not spell it out, but Toru Kujyo understood that these so-called "ties" likely included some subtle probing and attempts to win him over.
At her words, Toru Kujyo merely smiled. His gaze was gentle yet firm as he looked at Hinata. "There's no need. It's your birthday today, and I only want to spend it with you. As for the rest, we can discuss it another time." His words were simple, direct, and utterly unhesitating. They instantly dispelled all of Hinata's worries, while a flicker of understanding passed through Karin's and Hanabi's eyes.
Once Hyuga Hiashi left, Hanabi let loose completely. She skipped over to Toru Kujyo and curiously examined the compact object in his hand. "Big brother Toru, what's that?"
