"Yes! I'll remember!" Hinata nodded firmly, committing every word Toru Kujyo said to heart.
"Finally... sorry for the trouble, but I may have to rely on you for meals over the next few days, too." A hint of apology colored Toru Kujyo's voice.
At his words, Hinata's cheeks flushed slightly, but an indescribable excitement and anticipation welled up inside her. Far from finding it a burden, she was delighted to finally have a proper reason to look after Toru.
"It's no trouble! None at all!" Hinata hurriedly waved her hands, her voice rising a little for fear that Toru Kujyo might think she was unwilling. "I'll take good care of you, Toru! I'll prepare all three meals every day!"
Seeing her earnest little face, Toru Kujyo felt warmth bloom in his heart. A weak but reassured smile tugged involuntarily at his lips. In the darkness, he reached out and found Hinata's hand without hesitation.
"Thank you, Hinata."
Hinata's hand trembled slightly, and her cheeks instantly burned. She clasped Toru Kujyo's hand in return, feeling the warmth of his palm as strength filled her heart.
"Toru, just focus on recovering. I'll take care of everything." Though her voice was soft, it carried an unwavering resolve.
Time slipped by, and two weeks quietly passed.
Over those two weeks, Hinata devoted almost all her attention to caring for Toru Kujyo. She prepared three delicious meals for him punctually every day, carefully accounting for the difficulties his blindness caused by cutting his food into small pieces and letting his soup cool to a comfortable temperature. She read scrolls to him, described the weather outside, and told him amusing stories from the village. Though Toru Kujyo could not see, Hinata's gentle voice and meticulous care nourished his heart like spring rain, bringing him a peace and happiness he had never known.
During that time, Hinata's Shadow Clone and Shino handled Team 8's missions together. Although Kurenai Yuhi noticed that "Toru Kujyo" seemed somewhat different, she did not look into it, assuming the newly promoted Genin was still finding his feet.
One morning, while Toru Kujyo sat in meditation, he suddenly felt the burning pain and swelling in his eyes disappear completely. In their place, a strange, soothingly cool energy flowed slowly. The "fetal stirring" that had caused him such unbearable agony had finally subsided.
"Hinata," Toru Kujyo said, a barely perceptible excitement in his voice, "my eyes... I think they've healed."
Hinata stopped what she was doing in the kitchen and turned around in delighted surprise. "Really, Toru?" She hurried over to him, her voice full of anticipation and concern. "Then... let's take the bandages off and see!"
She carefully removed Toru Kujyo's Eye Mask, then unwound the bandages layer by layer. As the final layer slipped away, Hinata's heart rose into her throat. What kind of eyes would they be? The legendary, supreme Rinnegan? Or some strange red eyes capable of countering the Byakugan?
Toru Kujyo slowly opened his eyes.
In that instant, Hinata's breath caught.
They were eyes unlike any she had ever seen. Clear as a cloudless sky, their pupils were pure sky blue and radiated a soft, sacred blue-white halo. Several intricate white patterns appeared across the whites of his eyes, like holy flowers in full bloom, mysterious and noble.
"These... these are..." Hinata was so captivated by those eyes that she found herself speechless.
Toru Kujyo raised a hand and gently touched his eye socket as an unprecedented clarity flooded his mind. Everything in his field of vision became extraordinarily distinct, as though the entire world had been redefined. He looked within himself. On his system panel, the words "Kekkei Genkai · Byakugan (Gold)" had quietly changed.
[Kekkei Genkai · Tenseigan (Red)] [Level: ??? (Currently in the first stage)] [Abilities: ???] [Assessment: A supreme ocular technique ranked alongside the Three Great Ocular Techniques, possessing the power of destruction and creation, with limitless potential.]
The Tenseigan! It was actually the Tenseigan, which existed only in rumors! Turbulent waves surged through Toru Kujyo's heart, but his expression remained calm. Suppressing his excitement, he began testing the changes these eyes had brought.
He looked out the window, and with a slight shift of thought, his vision instantly stretched into the distance without limit. All of Konoha came into view, its houses, streets, and crowds visible in the finest detail. He continued channeling his ocular power. His vision pierced the village's barrier, crossed forests and mountains, and even revealed the towns along the Land of Fire's borders with perfect clarity. Its range had already left the Byakugan's vaunted eighty-kilometer limit far behind, covering almost the entire Land of Fire!
What an incredible range! Toru Kujyo marveled inwardly.
Next, he turned his gaze toward Hinata beside him. He activated his penetrating vision. Unlike the monochrome chakra pathways he had seen with the Byakugan before, Hinata now appeared entirely different to him: her pale pink bones were clearly visible, her living internal organs worked in a steady rhythm, and chakra flowed smoothly like streams through her pale blue pathways. Everything was in color, brimming with the pulse of life.
This was completely different from certain "inappropriate" uses of penetrating vision he had imagined. Instead, it seemed more like an ultimate form of medical insight.
"Hinata, my eyes have evolved into an entirely new Kekkei Genkai called the Tenseigan." Toru Kujyo looked at Hinata's curious face.
"The Tenseigan?" Hinata murmured, her eyes filled with wonder.
"Yes. It's given me some new abilities." Toru Kujyo smiled, wanting to demonstrate them for her. He fixed his gaze on an apple on the table and tried to draw on the Tenseigan's power.
"Attraction!"
The apple did not budge. Instead, Hinata, who had been standing quietly beside him, suddenly let out a little cry as her body floated uncontrollably toward Toru Kujyo.
Startled, Toru Kujyo hurriedly reached out to catch her. Hinata's soft body landed squarely in his arms, her cheeks instantly turning crimson and her eyes flustered.
"Sorry, sorry!" Toru Kujyo hastily apologized, looking somewhat embarrassed himself. "It's my first time using it, so I'm not very practiced yet. I didn't control the force properly." He had clearly meant to pull the apple toward him.
Hinata shook her head and said softly, "I-it's all right, Toru." She pulled herself out of his arms, her heart racing.
"Let's try this next." Toru Kujyo steadied himself and turned his gaze toward an empty vase nearby. "Repulsion!"
This time, he carefully controlled the force. The vase jolted with a faint crack and instantly shattered into countless pieces. Then, as though drawn by invisible strings, the fragments rose in a spiral and flew neatly into the trash can in the corner, leaving not a single shard outside.
"Wow!" Hinata could not help exclaiming. Such precise control was simply unbelievable.
Toru Kujyo nodded in satisfaction, having gained an initial understanding of the Tenseigan's power. He summed it up: "For now, it seems the Tenseigan's first stage has greatly enhanced my long-range and penetrating vision, and given me a basic grasp of three abilities: attraction, repulsion, and a technique... well, we could call it 'Wireless Puppet.' It lets me control objects from a distance, and perhaps in the future, I'll even be able to control other things."
