An apologetic smile appeared on Maltz's face.

According to his predecessor's memories, 2 Kirk Street had been searched at the time. Afterward, Old Charlie had spent several days resetting the mechanisms and secret rooms.
He wasn't sure about the other districts, though.
"Of course. Every district!"
"Who would dare disobey the Count's orders?"
Maltz nodded firmly.
"What about the Harbor District?"
Arthur continued asking.
"Did you find something?"
Maltz caught on immediately.
"I wouldn't exactly call it a discovery. You can have your people ask along Kirk Street where Jenkin first appeared this morning. The kidnappers might have covered their tracks, but it should ultimately lead to the Harbor District-or some overlooked island near Sisk Harbor. You should find traces of the kidnappers there."
Although Arthur had guessed Jenkin's identity wrong, he was very certain about the surroundings and other details.
At the same time, Arthur was willing to share the credit with Maltz.
Given their partnership, the more secure Maltz's position became, the more Arthur stood to gain.
