Or, to be precise, Arthur planned to buy a great many haunted houses!
Since the Countess had displayed a "miracle," South Los was about to witness a legendary wealth boom. Naturally, Arthur had to make his move.
He could buy land outright, draw up plans to build new neighborhoods, then use those plans as collateral to raise funds from South Los's trading firms and wealthy residents-or simply from the Countess herself. Next, he could use that money to quickly acquire more land, repeating the cycle several times. With a massive influx of people into South Los as the foundation, all he would need to do was stir up the locals a little, and the bubble would rapidly inflate. Arthur was confident he could reach the upper ranks of South Los's wealthiest in the shortest possible time.
Arthur truly wanted to do this, but he knew his own limits.
Those trading firms and wealthy residents were no fools. Once they saw the potential profits, they would pour in like mad. At that point, given his finances, he would most likely be squeezed out.
Of course, that was not the main issue.
The main issue was the Countess of South Los.
Imagine what the Countess of South Los would do when enormous sums of money poured in and things started getting out of hand.
The Countess wanted South Los to prosper, but she wanted it to remain stable even more.
Anything that threatened that stability would be eliminated.
When that time came...
Kill one to warn a hundred!
In a world with supernatural powers, that was the simplest and most effective approach.
