As the spies grew anxious, they suddenly saw Malinda pull the Medium into a corner of the Clock Tower and whisper something.
From their angle, they could not see what the two were saying.
But they clearly heard a shout-
"Why do I have to stay here?
Why can't I go?"
The "Medium's" voice abruptly rose. He was clearly furious, unable to control his emotions.
Delight appeared on every spy's face.
They knew their chance had come.
Immediately, the seven or eight men worked even harder to move the oil barrels.
But each of them kept a furtive eye on that corner.
Then they saw Malinda walk out of it. Her face seemed expressionless, but anger simmered in her eyes.
Less than a minute later, the "Medium" came out too.
"Once you've pushed all these oil barrels down there, set them alight.
Don't worry about anything else."
With those words, the young "Medium" hurried away as well.
"Yes, Mr. Credos!"
One spy answered loudly, while the others all bowed.
And the moment they lowered their heads, each of them had already filled in the scene that had just unfolded-
Malinda attached tremendous importance to the newly discovered "Herke Laboratory," but she did not want to abandon the task at hand either.
So she had wanted her lover to stay and carry out their original plan while she went ahead to the "Herke Laboratory." But the "Medium" had wanted to go himself and leave Malinda behind.
An argument had inevitably broken out.
Afterward, the "Medium" had apparently chosen to give in.
Yet once Malinda left, the "Medium" immediately chose to leave as well.
What bullshit was love when there was something to gain!
Recalling how affectionate the two had just been, the spies all sneered.
But they did not dare delay.
