Short on sleep, Arthur slumped listlessly in his chair, looking as though he wanted nothing to do with Malinda.

Malinda was in no hurry. She simply puffed on her pipe, then exhaled mouthful after mouthful of smoke. Arthur did not dislike its minty scent, mingled with a hint of medicinal herbs.

But that certainly did not mean Arthur wanted to be enveloped in someone else's smoke.

In fact, he only tolerated it because this was Malinda, someone with whom he had worked extensively.

Arthur would have shown them exactly what a "beating from Misfortune" meant.

Raising a hand to wave away the smoke, Arthur yawned and headed toward the Medium's Hall. Once his back was to Malinda, however, a sharp gleam appeared in his sleepy eyes, while he mumbled indistinctly-

"I'm not the only one who knows about the ruins in the Harbor District."

Malinda clenched her lips around her pipe.

After dealing with Lord Byrne's three sons earlier that day, she had felt increasingly uneasy. Especially once she confirmed that Arthur was not dying from grievous injuries, she kept feeling that he had been setting a trap for her. More importantly, afterward, she had discovered that someone had visited that secluded beach.

Someone had slipped right up to her people without them noticing a thing.
