In Arthur's view, two carriages raced side by side.
The coachmen were nowhere to be seen.
Two ladies occupied the drivers' seats.

Both ladies lashed their whips, determined to overtake the other's carriage, while muttering fiercely all the while-sometimes urging their horses on, sometimes cursing each other.
It went something like-

That endless string of telegraph-like beeps left even Arthur dumbfounded.
Especially since, from his angle, sparks actually seemed to fly between the two ladies whenever their eyes met.
The crackling kind.

They might explode at any moment.
Arthur smiled inwardly.
The scene before him was no surprise!
