The Old Count was not surprised by Arthur's words.
Arthur and Carral were certainly working together.
Otherwise, why would Carral charge into battle for Arthur?
Moreover, the Old Count was almost certain that Arthur had promised Carral something along the lines of "helping him become the heir to the Einhaas Fief."
Perhaps he had even promised him "the Einhaas Fief outright."
These were all things Carral wanted.
Only by satisfying Carral's ambitions could Arthur persuade him to cooperate.
That was simple logic.
Surely Carral had not been won over by the South Los Medium's personal charm and decided to charge into battle at his own expense?

Arthur Credos was merely the South Los Medium, not a member of the Inner Bay's Golden Lion Family.
Besides, even in the Golden Lion Family of the Inner Bay, no one other than the Old Lion had displayed a talent like [Lion Pride].

As these thoughts turned over in his mind, the Old Count sensed the Marquis of Einhaas's will beginning to waver under Blood Drinker Heber's attacks. He decided to stop beating around the bush-
"I can guarantee that even if Carral becomes first in line to inherit the Einhaas Fief, it won't affect your existing cooperation.
"Likewise, I'll make sure you receive a tangible benefit: that bastard Einhaas's private treasury.
"There are quite a few rare things inside.
"Perhaps something you want will be among them."
"His situation is getting dangerous?"
Arthur looked toward the Marquis of Einhaas.
Although the Marquis showed no outward signs, the Old Count's promises were enough to indicate that his situation was far from promising.
Only under those circumstances would the Old Count dare make such promises.
