As the "reincarnated god" those demigods had once followed, surely it was perfectly reasonable for Arthur Credos to claim his former followers' believers?
Of course, it wasn't just them.

Arthur's mind raced.
Although he had a rough idea, Arthur knew very well that actually accomplishing it would not be easy.
The most immediate issue was-
Which god had "reincarnated"?
Not only would that require a plausible explanation.
He also needed...
To convince people.
Not just with strength, but with traits-or perhaps "authority" was the better word.
And for him, "death" was the easiest option.
Yet Arthur still remained wary of that "death."
At the very least, he needed to know more before he could lay his plans.
Otherwise, the whole thing really could blow up in his face.

He had too little information.
So little that he was practically groping around in the dark.
