Having worked out most of what had happened, Arthur maintained a neutral expression and took out the ordinary, unsigned letter to ask the old butler, Vic, about it.
"Have you seen this letter before?"
"Or do you recognize the handwriting?"
Compared with the murdered old lord, Arthur cared more about whoever had left this letter.
"I don't recognize it!"
"I've never seen this letter or this handwriting before."
After carefully examining the letter, the old butler spoke with absolute certainty.
At the same time, his eyes were full of pleading as he looked at Arthur-he did not want the Doyle Family disgraced, but Arthur quietly pointed at Fontel.
The old butler froze.

"Could you take me to see the stairs His Lordship fell down?"
