The book recounts the history of distant 'Nass'-the land where three suns rise.
The Nass in the book is the infamous Nasse of the Valley of the Shadow, but their landscapes differ so greatly that they cannot possibly be the same place. The Chronicles of Nasse also suggests that Nass may be the Homeworld of the Elder Things, and mentions their artifact, the Sphere of Nasse.
Furthermore, the book contains fragments of music that supposedly bring otherworldly beings into this dimension. It also includes numerous short texts teaching magic, written by Egyptian mages collectively known as Hermes Trismegistus-one of the titles of the Egyptian deity Thoth.
According to Clement of Alexandria, these mages wrote forty-two books on alchemy, all of which are now lost.
None of that is the main issue. The deadliest part is the spells in it.
