At the border of Baiyue Prefecture, Kuang Cang watched Nian howl in agony and spoke softly.
"For a mighty Heaven Peering Great Demon to be killed by a band of powerless mortals-is that not a tragedy in its own right?"
With that, Kuang Cang returned to his true form.
An enormous serpent coiled in the sky, covered in purple scales. Three claws grew from its belly, two in front and one behind, while three horns crowned its head, the middle one short and the two outer ones long.
This was Kuang Cang's true form, the Crying Snake.
Having assumed his true form, Kuang Cang roared toward the Nian Beast.
A streak of white light shot from Kuang Cang's mouth.
After doing this, Kuang Cang did not return to human form. He simply watched the streak of white light in silence.
The Nian Beast was in a sorry state. His red fur had been scorched into curls, and arrows bristled densely all over his body. Blood flowed down their shafts, extinguishing his burning fur.
Then a streak of white light shot from afar into the space between his brows.
His eyes, once those of a crazed beast, gradually regained their clarity.
The arrows and spells flying from Fuzhou City vanished into nothingness before they could even reach him.
Qingfeng's hand froze midway through stroking his beard. Ji Hu was startled as well.
Before Ji Hu could act, however, the Nian Beast's body shrank to the size of an ordinary water buffalo. Then he lunged at Qingfeng, who stood stroking his beard atop the hill.
Though startled, Qingfeng did not panic. Watching Nian charge toward him, he formed a seal with both hands and struck at Nian's head.
BOOM!!!!!
The tremendous impact leveled everything around them except the village behind Qingfeng.
