After the eyeless hollows met his calm gaze for a few seconds, Cheng Yu was the first to pull his head back.
After closing the narrow wooden window, Cheng Yu thought for a second, then promptly let out a groundhog scream.

The sound of the door being smashed open came right on cue. All trace of Cheng Yu's usual composure vanished as he looked shakily at the newcomers and pointed at the wooden window.
"M-monsters! So many monsters!!"
The soldier who had burst through the door was just about to stick his head out the window when a large, powerful hand dragged him back.
It belonged to the burly man leading them. As he pulled the soldier back, he drew the long saber at his waist and thrust it straight through the closed window.
Shhk! Squelch!! Aaaah!!!
After piercing the wooden boards, the blade made a sound like rotten leather tearing, followed by a harsh, grating shriek.
The man withdrew his saber, its blade already stained with black liquid. The black droplets that splashed onto the room's wooden walls hissed as well.
The man looked at Cheng Yu with a scrutinizing gaze, apparently wondering who he was.
But a brief check confirmed that he was indeed an ordinary person, and a frail one at that. Perhaps he was injured.
Looking at Cheng Yu, the man said in a low voice,
"Tell me everything you saw! Everything! If you hide anything, don't blame me for showing no mercy with my blade."
Cheng Yu seemed scared witless. At the man's words, all he could do was nod repeatedly.
A little later, Cheng Yu had told the man everything he had seen.
When he heard Cheng Yu say that the underside of the ship was packed with little black figures, the
