Two months after leaving yet another city, Cheng Yu lay on Niu Ba's back, holding a map and muttering,
"Something's wrong... Doesn't this map say there's a village around here? Did that shopkeeper sell me a prehistoric map?"
Niu Ba continued plodding along the main road, yawning as he said,
"Isn't that normal? If you want an up-to-date map, you have to get it from the authorities. The kind you bought is nowhere near reliable."
Cheng Yu put the map away and rubbed his chin.
"No wonder it was so cheap. You really do get what you pay for."
Niu Ba rolled his eyes.
"If you really want to go to the Northern Abyss Islands, why don't we just follow the main road? What did you buy a map for?"
Cheng Yu gently patted Niu Ba's head.
"What do you know, you little brat? Sure, this is the main road, but it isn't the shortest route. At this leisurely pace, we might not reach the Central Capital before I die, let alone the Northern Abyss Islands."
Niu Ba pursed his lips.
"As if taking shortcuts would get you there."
Cheng Yu ruffled Niu Ba's head.
"Why are you so literal, Niu Niu? We're taking shortcuts to reach cities faster, and to pick some spirit plants along these rarely traveled routes to sell. Then we can use a Teleportation Array to reach the Central Capital."
Only then did Niu Ba look at Cheng Yu in astonishment.
"So the reason you didn't teleport straight to Humankind's Central Capital was that you had no money?!"
Cheng Yu rolled his eyes.
"What else did you think?"
Niu Ba looked as though he had been deceived.
"But you told me it was about seeing different scenery and meeting different people!"
