"Captain!"
Seeing that everyone else had dispersed, his teammates gathered around Aiki, smiling at him.
"Good! Everyone's safe! Two of you, go set up a malice-triggered illusion array at the intersection. Make it as terrifying as possible. If anyone with malicious intent dares cross the line I drew, don't worry about whether they live or die."
"Yes, Captain!" the members answered in unison, without the slightest concern over whether this was right. They had been thoroughly sickened lately, too. People they had earnestly helped now looked at them with disgust simply because they had taken in the children. Some had even hurled vicious remarks at them before they left.
"Why didn't they just die fighting the monsters?"
"It's because these people took in the Cursed Children that the monsters came."
Although these were only quiet mutters, the Holy Light Clerics' superhuman hearing picked up every word, making them increasingly repulsed by the local residents.
Afterward, two members took their Magic Circle engraving tools and eagerly got to work at the intersection. They believed that once the array was complete, it would give those ill-intentioned people a very big surprise. As for whether it would affect the agency's business once finished...
That was laughable. They didn't make their living by taking jobs. They had only started accepting commissions to see whether they could spread their faith in this city that way.
Their captain had just relayed headquarters' reply to them, so they had even less reason to care about those utterly warped people now. If Holy Light Clerics weren't forbidden from casually attacking ordinary people, they would have beaten them up long ago.
Carrying bags of various sizes, Elsa walked back toward the Manor. Remembering the cold look the old man had given her before she left made her feel miserable.
