Medivh awoke from a long, deep darkness. He felt as though he had dreamed of betraying his closest friend, summoning a powerful race of monsters from another world to destroy the kingdom he loved most, and turning his beloved apprentice into a corpse. Those events kept replaying in his mind, one scene after another.
The sunlight suddenly seemed blinding, yet Medivh only grew more terrified. "Did I really do all of this?!" He remembered confronting a powerful man in the great hall of the Royal Palace that day. Then his mind had grown muddled, his vision had gone black, and he knew nothing of what happened afterward. Yet the events in his memories were so clear and real.
Looking around, Medivh saw several figures in white armor gathered around a black-haired boy. The boy's left eye seemed injured, and blood kept seeping through the hand covering it. Yet his expression remained composed. Apart from his somewhat pale face, his other eye-a golden one seemingly marked with a pinwheel-was fixed intently on Medivh.
After putting away a glass cup that radiated rainbow light, a soldier in white armor hurried over to the black-haired boy. Pure white light shone from the soldier's hands as they slowly approached his eye, and the boy lowered the hand covering his left eye.
Only then did Medivh see clearly that the boy's entire eye had been gouged out. It was a horrifying sight. As the white light drew closer, a ripple of emotion stirred in Medivh's heart. The boy's eye was growing back at a speed visible to the naked eye.
"You're awake! How do you feel now?" A cool voice broke Medivh out of his daze.
Medivh opened his mouth. "Boy, are you speaking to me?"
"Of course. It looks like the demon has left
