In a dim cave, torches burned along the stone walls.
It was bright morning outside, yet the depths of the cave remained pitch-black.
Only at the cave entrance was there a pool of bright daylight. An old monk sat there, with a tuft of snow-white beard and tattered robes, cross-legged on a Prayer Mat at the entrance. He seemed to be deep in meditation, utterly motionless.
This old monk was the keeper of Cave Three. Duan Rong had secretly sent his divine sense through the man's Dantian and discovered that he was actually at the initial stage of the Cave Illumination Realm.
Duan Rong was currently standing beside a painted idol of the Immovable Wisdom King over thirty feet tall on the eastern side of the cave. Standing there, he only came up to the idol's calves.
People hung suspended by ropes around the idol's head, chest, and waist.
The idols in this cave were painted, after all, and their lacquer easily peeled away, so they needed repairs every so often. Deep iron rings had therefore been embedded into the stone wall behind the idols for suspending workers.
Ropes of different lengths could be threaded through those iron rings and tied around the waist, allowing people to hang at different positions on the idols. This made the work much easier, since these craftsmen were not martial artists.
Since Duan Rong had only recently arrived, they had not put him on the ropes. He was merely assigned to remain at the bottom and deal with the flaking paint on the idol's legs and shoes.
The craftsmen hanging in the air worked while muttering quiet complaints.
Repairing a painted idol more than thirty feet high was no easy job. Once they started, it would take a whole month. They had to hang
