Background

Lü Qingzhu is Lü Zhongtang's only daughter and the granddaughter of Taiyi Sect's Old Ancestor, Lü Yinlin. When she was five, Lü Zhongtang brought her to visit Lü Yinlin in the deep mountains; the Old Ancestor became unusually fond of her and kept her by his side for several years. 309 354

She was raised close to Lü Yinlin's austere mountain life and developed little interest in luxury. At thirteen, Lü Yinlin created the Winter Plum Swordplay specifically to nurture her naturally solitary disposition and a Dao heart “as firm as iron.” 267 312

Her outward coldness does not make her uncaring. She questions whether Lü Yinlin has found happiness after a thousand years of cultivation, brings him a xun from her travels, and listens beside him as he plays. 312 She later shows patience in teaching Shen Mizhi and devotion to raising her son, Shen'er. 652 689

After acting without authorization and switching her supervisory post, Lü Qingzhu is retrieved by Lü Zhongtang and reprimanded for leaving Divine Cloud Prefecture for Yuan Yang Prefecture. 309
