The Zoanthrope supported the Tyranid Swarm's monsters from behind with all manner of psychic abilities. For the first time, Cheng Mingrui was being held back. He could feel the crushing weight of psychic power pressing down on him, slowing even his movements.
Ever since entering the Galaxy and coming into contact with the Warp, the Tyranids had begun developing their own psychic units-and their psychic units were the most powerful of all.
They had been the last race to study psychic power, yet their achievements were the greatest. While other races were still selecting powerful psykers from among their populations, the Tyranids were already engineering psykers at the genetic level.
While other races still treated psykers as precious specialist units, Tyranid Zoanthropes of all sizes were already commonplace on the battlefield. Sometimes, they were used as nothing more than ordinary artillery units.
Several shells suddenly fell from the sky, apparently long-range support from Gretchin artillery, but a thin psychic barrier blocked them all. The Tyranids intended to seal off the area and behead the Ork Warboss. They would never allow that operation to be disrupted.
Inside the psychic barrier, which extended five kilometers in every direction, there were nothing but Tyranids. The Ork Warboss could not have escaped even with wings.
To create this barrier, the numerous ordinary Zoanthropes outside it bore tremendous strain. With the Orks' Waaagh! field so active, using psychic power was already extremely dangerous. Many Zoanthropes' brains had exploded under the pressure.
A hideous head flew into the air and landed beside the giant Zoanthrope. It was another Hive Tyrant's head, all sharp teeth and long tongue. The Hive Tyrant that had terrified countless living beings was now being mercilessly slaughtered, just like the victims of its own bone swords.
