"A misunderstanding?" Yriel's expression remained cold. "Using psychic power to casually charm passersby doesn't strike me as a misunderstanding. Psychic power is a weapon. How is that any different from pointing a sword at someone? Do people on the Khanantel Craftworld greet each other with swords?"
Yriel's words made Parker Pan frown. He had never taught Osuwiss that she could casually use psychic power for such things. Was her psychic power so strong that it had spilled out?
Parker Pan lowered his head and exchanged a glance with Osuwiss. Seeing the Farseer's panic, he was certain she had not done it deliberately. It seemed he would have to add more lessons on psychic power so Osuwiss could learn to control her strength as soon as possible.
"Honored Autarch, this must be a misunderstanding. Our little Osuwiss surely didn't mean to do it. She has tremendous psychic talent, but she hasn't mastered her control yet, and so she offended you," Parker Pan said politely as he stepped forward.
"This was indeed our fault. I, Poet Parker Pan, offer you my apologies."
Yriel's expression softened considerably, and he was no longer poised to fight at any moment. Through the gap between Parker Pan and Tyranda, he saw the small figure of Osuwiss behind them, and his easing mood soured again.
"A child who causes trouble hides behind the adults. Sheltering wings cast deep shadows, too, leaving the fledgling afraid to spread its wings and fly," Yriel remarked sarcastically.
Among the Craftworld's leaders, he had seen many people who held high positions because they came from distinguished families.
It was not that such people lacked knowledge or ability, or that they could not lead the Craftworld. But to Yriel, they were far too lacking in practical experience and a spirit of adventure. In
