Leaving aside Boss Slick's tense surgery, a massive war was unfolding at the same time in the eastern reaches of the Octarius Sector. The combatants were a biological Tendril Fleet of the Tyranids and a Necron Dynasty fleet.
Necron warships, flying pyramids
The Tyranid fleet was relatively large, numbering around five thousand vessels, with dozens of Bio-ships of dreadnought tonnage, larger even than battleships. These enormous Hive Ships could give birth to Bio-ships themselves, and they were a full size larger than even the biggest warships in the Necron fleet.
During the battle, an ordinary Necron cruiser was actually swallowed whole by a Hive Ship. The massive, sturdy Necron warship would be ground to pieces by teeth inside the Hive Ship, then corroded away completely by acid.
The Necron Dynasty fleet of around a thousand vessels seemed to be at a disadvantage and was being surrounded by the hive's biological fleet.
"Oh, my friend, I told you that you should have brought more ships. Octarius is a dangerous place." Aboard the Necron fleet's flagship, Afentis watched the battle before him and spoke in an exaggerated tone.
"A few minor losses will have no effect on the outcome. This fleet of bugs is nothing more than a small obstacle." Trazyn, an overlord of the Nihilakh Dynasty, sat on the flagship's throne, his voice full of delight and confidence.
"Oh, really? But I see your fleet suffering constant losses, while our target keeps moving all over this sector. If we expend too many forces here, our chances of victory will fall considerably." Afentis moved his staff forward.
The green gem atop the staff emitted a beam of light, projecting a holographic star map of Octarius before him. As the map zoomed in, the green light of an important marker settled within the
