Every ranged attack fired by the Norn Assassins struck Sneaky Boss dead on, and every one was utterly useless. A layer of red light had enveloped him when the battle began.
This was Khorne's blessing, granting Sneaky Boss immunity to all ranged damage. Even when he wasn't controlling it, the effect could activate on its own to block surprise attacks. It was remarkably clever.
Stealing part of his sense of self wasn't exactly decent, but Khorne certainly didn't skimp on his blessings.
Just as Sneaky Boss considered whether to kill the Norn Assassins himself, a roar rang out. One of the running Norn Assassins was slammed into a nearby wall with a boom, as though a truck had hit it.
Boss Copperhead, the strongest of the Nobs, wasn't about to let a bug prance around right in front of him. In moments, the Norn Assassin's scythes clashed with his axe.
Elsewhere, with a string of crisp bursts and three melta shots, Rottooth shot out another Norn Assassin's legs with pinpoint accuracy, sending it tumbling across the floor at high speed.
The Nobs and Slaughter Bosses each showed their prowess, intercepting every last Norn Assassin. These elite Tyranid units, powerful enough to charge in and out of enemy hordes at will, had clearly met opponents stronger and fiercer than themselves.
Sneaky Boss was rather surprised. He had grown accustomed to being invincible, always taking on the fiercest and most powerful enemies. Sometimes, he arrogantly believed that he had to kill the strongest foes himself to reduce casualties among his Boys.
Now he realized that this... really was arrogance on his part. Orks were extreme weapons of war to begin with. They fought wars, loved wars, and were meant to grow stronger through war. His urge to protect them was entirely unnecessary.
