With a boom, the Power Armor struck on Ghazghkull Thraka's back exploded. Smoke billowed out, and the shock wave briefly drove back his attackers.
Ghazghkull Thraka had installed this device specifically to create an opening in a crisis. He swiftly turned to attack the Custodians who had ambushed him from behind.
Clad in golden Power Armor, the Adeptus Custodes were the Imperium of Man's strongest superwarriors and the Emperor's most favored. Their combat prowess was immense, surpassing even the Space Marines known as the Angels of the Emperor.
The gap in fighting strength between a Custodian and a Space Marine was roughly equivalent to that between a Space Marine and an ordinary soldier of the Astra Militarum. There were undeniably exceptional Space Marines skilled enough to contend with Custodians.
